“Such a great concept, my boys love eating from their picnic table!!”

Choose a rat hideout for your layout
Check the usable space inside and the opening your rats will use. If the hide will serve as a rat bed, allow room for the rats who rest together and leave the entrance clear. Compare the footprint and whether the listing calls for floor space, a shelf or a cage attachment.
Choose the shape that suits the setup, then check the individual product page for dimensions, fittings and cleaning instructions.
Hide sizes at a glance
- Cupcake Rat Hide: about 33 cm high, 25 cm wide, 20 cm deep. Clips to cage bars; wide entrance, roomy enough to use as a bed.
- Rat Mansion Hideaway: about 25 × 25 × 40 cm. A house-shaped hide that stands on the cage floor or a large shelf.
- Fairy Mushroom Rat Hide: about 25 cm high, 23 cm wide, 18 cm deep. Clips to cage bars.
- Cactus Rat Hide: round, tall or a two-piece set. Clips to cage bars; see the hand-for-scale photo.
Sizes are approximate. If a listing gives no measurements, ask us before ordering. The RSPCA suggests offering more shelters than rats, so each rat has a choice of where to sleep, without hides taking over the cage floor.
